Public Safety Advisory Committee

Launched in 2025. 

Communication during an emergency or disaster requires methods to inform, support, and act. While local, county, state and federal public agencies, as well as regional non-profit groups are equipped to lead this effort, its crucial that the local business sector work with local community groups to engage in learning, planning and assisting if and when called upon to inform and engage.  

Goal: Established preparedness plan for implementation/response when emergencies arise

Goal: Assist local, county, state and federal agencies in broadening awareness and  coordinating resources through active awareness and education programs in the region.

Goal: Engage property owners (residential, commercial, agricultural) on efforts to protect their families, pets, and assets to reduce impacts from wildfires. Every year, devastating wildfires burn across the United States. At the same time, a growing number of people are living where wildfires are a real risk. While these fires will continue to happen, there are things you can do to protect your home and neighborhood as well as your family’s safety. Grant County Fire District 8 joins the Chamber, along with WA Department of Natural Resources to educate community members on mitigation actions. Goal: Encouraging collaboration and cooperation between Grant County Sheriff's Office (GCSO), local city-funded police departments (Mattawa, Royal City, and Warden), state and federal agencies responsible for dealing with shared challenges of keeping communities safe.  Watch for notices on the annual Law Enforcement Appreciation Day Luncheon, held each year on January 9th.   

Goal: Assist efforts of local, state and federal resources to improve support for rural, local available services to support the rural, agricultural, aging and diverse communities in the vast geographic area. Current medical, dental, behavioral health, pharmacy services, enhanced with urgent care in the future to offer additional services locally.
