Every year, devastating wildfires burn across the United States. At the same time, a growing number of people are living where wildfires are a real risk. While these fires will continue to happen, there are things to protect homes and communities. The Firewise USA® program is here to help.  After initial research in 2023, a five year plan was kicked off in 2024, in the Desert Aire Rural Village (DARV) community. In 2025, recognition of the submitted plan to National Fire Prevention Association (NFPA) was certified. In cooperation with WA State Dept. of Natural Resources (DNR), the Chamber's Public Safety Advisory Committee, plans are to engage property owners in Grant County Fire District 8 service area to request FREE ASSESSMENTS to mitigate wildfire risk in areas through cleanup of flammable fuel.
