Continuing coordination efforts between the public and private sector to initiate interests and respond to inquiries about locating or expanding businesses in the South Grant County region. Many factors affect the economic climate in any community, which in turn affect the quality of life. Information on links provided are subject to change by source entity.
Agriculture is a primary economic driver in the region, supported by the Columbia Basin Project (CBP), which provides irrigation to a once-arid region. Key crops include a variety of fruits, vegetables, and grapes, particularly in the Mattawa and Wahluke Slope areas, and the region also has significant cattle and calf production. The CBP has transformed the area into productive farmland, with the growth of agriculture fostering related industries like food processing, warehousing, and trucking.

Continued advancements for improvements to the twenty eight mile stretch of state highway to accommodate increases in business and consumer transit through the region, including safety measures such as round abouts, passing lanes, pullouts, turn lanes, signage, lighting, reflector strips and other emerging methods.

The process of improving a community's economic well-being and quality of life, involves the distribution of resources, the growth of the economy, and the development of human and social resources. Collaboration continues with local, county, regional, state and federal agencies along with private entities for long-range plans to ensure consistent supply of energy availability in the South Grant County area, for businesses and consumers alike, is on-going.
Rural healthcare is critical, both to residents and the workforce. Two clinics currently operate during business hours offering medical, dental, behavioral health, imaging, labs, pharmacy, WIC and more. Urgent Care services are a key focus in both the short and long-term care of the area.
Working with Grant County Public Works to investigate possible public/private partnership options for long range solution to management of solid waste including transfer stations, recycling, composting, and long-range planning for use of landfills.
